Podiums Spots Set at the 7th Annual Pro-Line Mid Summer Shootout, 2nd Round of the 2017 Hobbywing & SchuurSpeed Triple Crown Championship

So what happened on the track at the Pro-Line Mid summer Shootout? Well all the standard classes were contested with the spec classes often drawing the limelight. In Expert Stock Buggy, it was Sammy Moran/ Pro-Line / SchuurSpeed / TLR (P3) who grabbed the win and showed that his results in the classes he entered were all business. Ron DeVoll/ HobbyWing/ SchuurSpeed would have to settle for second in spite of his TQ position that was earned by laying down some blistering runs during qualifying. Sammy and Ron had an exciting nose to tail race for the majority of the single main until an accidental incident with a lapper impeded Ron’s fight for the lead and letting Sammy take the front. Sammy “the Killer” is an up-and-coming local driver that really shined at the event and his driving turned lots of heads. Hard-charging Matt Olson/ MIP 3rd who not only started 9th on the grid, but had to get in the main by bumping up from the B-Main.

Super Stock Stadium Truck was highly contested with Sammy Moran/ Pro-Line / Schuurspeed / TLR taking the win with Kortny Moore/ TLR and Johnathan Schultz/ Proline / AE having a battle for 2nd place. Eventually Kortny took 2nd and Johnathan came in the final podium spot.

Stock 17.5 Short Course was again a popular class and it was Davey Batta/ Pro-Line / HobbyWing/ SchuurSpeed (TQ) who fought off a hard charging Cole Jenson/ TLR, who eventually drove to second, but it wasn’t easy and even Rudy Rosales/ Pro-Line /HobbyWing/ SchuurSpeed got in the mix at one point and eventually took home the third place hardware. Davey and Cole ran nose to tail for most of this race. Their tight racing allowed Rudy to close in and nearly steal second.

In Modified 2WD Buggy, it was Rudy Rico/ MIP/ AE who took his TQ spot and checked out leaving the real battle for the remaining spots on the podium. And fought they did with Tyler Hicks/ Team Associated somehow getting past Ron DeVoll/ HobbyWing/ SchuurSpeed (3rd) and Shawn Blackwell/ TLR (4th) to steel second.

In Modified 4WD Buggy, it was Jake Mayo/ Pro-Line / AE who shook off his P3 start and charged to the front and took the win convincingly. Second went to Tyler Kicks/ AE, with Shawn Blackwell/ Pro-Line / TLR left to take the final spot on the podium- an impressive move from P8.

This was a great event enjoyed by all with lots of fun in a casual atmosphere. The Pro-Line Mid Summer Shootout is really starting to carve a spot on everyone’s racing calendar, and there is still another Pro-Line event to complete the Hobbywing & SchuurSpeed Triple Crown Championship series, the Pro-Line Fall Classic on Oct 28th, and as the momentum continues to grow, it should also make the smiles bigger and the competition closer.
