This past weekend I went to the HPI West Coast Baja Nationals held at Milestone RC Park in Riverside California. It was a new class for me because I typically run 1:8 Buggy and 1:8 Truggy. There were 85 entries for the event.
Qualifying: The race had rocket round qualifying and so they only counted the fastest single qualifier. We had 4 rounds of qualifying total and they did 2 per day. They did track maintenance after the two rounds so that the track was prepped for the next day. It rained the first day we were out there on Friday but they got it cleaned up in time to run qualifying. First round the track was still fresh so I had the fastest time and was able to hold the TQ going into the Expert Truck A-main.

Main: The A-main event was 30 minutes long and computer issues caused us to restart the main 3 times but once we got going we were battling for the lead. Before the first lap was over I was able to take the first place position and ended up hanging on lapping the field 4 times to bring home the win.
I want to thank my sponsors for providing me with superior equipment and for giving me the confidence to succeed.
