Axial Wraith Upgrades and Detailing Techniques

Hey there all you Scale Crawler / Axial Wriath Fans. I wanted to give you a heads up on My “Work in Progress” Axial Wraith Project Truck and show you some of the Cool Pro-Line Items You can add to your vehicle. I’ll also cover some easy detailing techniques to help bring out all the molded detail on the Pro-Line Accessories as well  as the Axial Wraith Chassis!  Pay close attention as were going to give you a sneak peak of just a couple of the many new accessories items coming later this fall!

I first started off by adding our #6063-01 Powerstroke SC Shocks to all 4 corners.  I also picked up our #6063-01 Spring assortment kits for some softer springs and to dial in the chassis a little better. You can use the stock Power Stroke springs that come with the shocks as they work fine but the softer springs will help to get you a little added articulation. In mounting them, I re-used the Stock Wraiths shocks lower pivot balls by popping them out of the stock shocks and pressing them in the Powerstroke’s lower eye’s.  For the upper mount, I used the shouldered spacers found on the Traxxas Slash parts tree’s.

For wheels and Tires, I picked up our #1166-14 2.2 TSL SX G8 Compound Tires and mounted them to a set of our #2713-15 Titus 2.2 Bead Lock wheels. Before I assembled them, I painted the center hubs the same color as my body panels and added some silver accents to the recessed areas and followed up with a dry wash to give the weathered look for a little more realism. I then topped them off by using Axial SCX 10 Honcho Wheel Nut caps by using a Dremel Rotory Tool to Turn down the shoulder so they would fit into the axle nut pockets of the Titus wheels.

In working on some finishing touches, I added some of the P-L Light Covers from our #6047-00 Light kit and attached them with Clear RTV so they can be easily removed. I also added some Dry brushing to the Axles, Chassis and other components.

These are just a few of the Cool Pro-Line Racing Accessories you can add as well as many things you can do with the Wraith. We’re are just getting started and I’ve got more weathering detail as well as some custom fabrication in the works for the chassis. Stay tuned for future articles, product announcements and Project updates for this awesome truck and you scale crawler enthusiasts right here are Pro-Line Racing!
