Kevin Thomas at Super Seven Series on Pro-Line LockDowns

EBuggy1st

This past weekend I attended race three of Thunder Alley Raceway’s Super Seven Series.  I have been running E-Buggy and 4WD SCT, in the third race of the series I was able to captured my first E-Buggy win and followed it up with a 3rd place finish in 4WD SCT.

Ran Pro-Line Caliber SC Tires and Pro-Line LockDown and Suppressor Buggy Tires

One goal I had for this summer was logging more track time with my E-Buggy.  Each race I am becoming more comfortable with my buggy and finishing 1st shows that my extra practice time is beginning to pay off.

Oddly, the 4WD SCT class appears to be the most popular class at Thunder Alley; usually E-Buggy takes the top honor at most  outdoor tracks. The racing has been great with several quality racers pushing each other throughout the qualifiers. I qualified second overall, but dropped to 3rd place after the single A-Main. It was a good experience and I was able to identify several areas that I need to improve. The most glaring area would be passing lap traffic; I am very tentative and usually wait for others to wreck before attempting a pass. I don’t want to disrupt their race and as a result I ended up getting bumped off the track several times by lap traffic. I believe this is what makes racing so enjoyable because there are always areas where you can improve and the learning never stops.

My E-Buggy and 4wd SCT vehicles were both powered with Maclan racing motors and Venom batteries.  I ran Pro-Line Caliber tires on my truck all day and bounced back and forth between Lockdowns and Suppressors on my buggy. The surface at Thunder Alley is very gritty so a big shout out to Boca Bearings since my vehicles are still running smooth after countless hours of practice and several races.

I decided run the Super Seven Series since Thunder Alley Raceway is only an hour away which is a little easier to manage.

The series features seven races with two dropped, while I have posted solid results in the two races I have been able to attend, with 4 races remaining and only one more available drop I will need a little luck especially with the weather since I will be attending several out of state races in the coming months and any re-scheduling might put me behind the 8-ball as far as competing for a top 3 finish for the series.

Thanks to BoomRC for the awesome decals as well as Xpert, Boca Bearings, Venom, Maclan Racing, and Pro-Line for all their excellent products.  A final thank you to Bullit R/C Hobby shop in Raleigh, NC for continuing to support me and listening to all my RC stories.
