This weekend I drove out to Omaha to race at the 2 round of the Tekno Winter Series at the Hobbytown USA Hobbyplex, probably one of my favorite facilities we travel to. We got quite a few Tekno guys to come this round and it was awesome having a big team presence. It was great to meet some new guys too, I feel like I know everyone at the Plex now.

I threw down my NB48.3 and EB48.3 with a few things we were trying when we arrived Friday, and with very minimal changes the cars probably felt the best they’ve ever been. Jumping into qualifying Saturday, I quickly figured out sauced MC compound Electrons were the way to go over M4s with the changing track conditions. Sauced Clays were over half a second faster a lap than Super Softs this weekend! Pro-Line Tires were absolutely dialed and provided a ton of grip on the changing surface. Once that was sorted out, I was able to narrowly miss TQ in E-Buggy and qualify 3rd over in the Nitro Buggy class.
Come main time, the track was in prime condition thanks to the hard work of Alex Sturgeon and the Plex crew. First up was Nitro Buggy, and immediately I kinda got bit as my car flamed right as the tone went off. Starting almost a lap down, I put my head down and just tried to run laps and make my way back into the pack. I was able to get all the way back up to 4th but had no chance of catching the leaders as they were still a lap up. Thanks to the awesome pit work of Clayton and Andy, you guys did some of the fastest pits with a fuel bottle I’ve seen. E-Buggy was up next. I got a good start and chased Derek around the track until I got by him and from there I just relied on how dialed the car was and my super smooth and extremely fast Hobbywing XR8 and 4274 motor combo. Was definitely nice to finally take the win at this track after just bad luck every time I come out.
Thanks to the entire Tekno team, Hobbyplex crew for hosting this event, and Tekno for sponsoring the series!
