Tanner Stees at Pro-Line Indoor Championship on Pro-Line Primes

TS1

Last weekend was the 3rd annual Pro-Line Indoor Championship at Warehouse 3 in Arizona.

To start things off on Friday was practice pretty much all day long for everyone to get their cars figured out and to also learn the track and get that down. Since I was just running my 2WD Buggy I had plenty of time to get the tires to a point where I liked them and focus on getting my 2WD setup where I liked it and felt comfortable with it. My car felt good,

So I came back the next day ready for qualifying and feeling really confident with my stuff. Saturday was the first actual day of racing with 3 rounds of qualifying and then mains on Sunday. In round one I was doing really well in the beginning. I started out strong as my car was feeling good then had some driver errors and a couple mistakes which dropped me back to second in my heat and a 3rd for the whole round. For round 2 I made another change to my car to try and get it better due to more grip in the Track compared to Friday. Round two was much cleaner of a run only had a mistake or two and was able to improve my time and also get a 3rd for the whole round again. Round three my car felt amazing as I made some more changes to try and take some of the twitchiness out and calm it down and was feeling really good going into the run but unfortunately jumped a little too far inside on a jump and sheered a from arm off. With that ending my run, the night was also finished so I went back to fix and prep my car for the triple A-Mains on Sunday.

On Sunday I was hoping for the best and thinking that if I stay with first and second all I have to do is wait for the mistake and get by. And A-1 started that way I stayed on second place’s tail for a little while until I shorted one of the front doubles and fell back to 5th where I would finish. In A-2 I started off the same way I did in A-1 but this time kept my cool longer until I had a problem over the triple which for some reason on Sunday was much harder to clear and came up a bit short and ripped my bottom shock screw right out of my arm putting me out of the race. In A-3 I started in the second position as the winner had already been decided and was running pretty good battling for 3rd until I had a problem with one of my arm holder screws coming out and also not being able to finish the race once again.

Even though the weekend didn’t go the way I wanted it to it was a major learning experience and I’d like to say thanks to HB/HPI Racing and Pro-Line for all the help and support on and off the track. My equipment was awesome the whole weekend.
