Attended my third race of the season at Hobby Hut for their official season opener with 140 entries, 5 heats of Nitro Buggy and 3 heats of Nitro Truggy.
We ran two quals and in Buggy I started out on Blockades in Q1 but went to Hole Shots in Q2 which were 100% better. I put in great lap times but unfortunately I was still dealing with a new motor and flamed out but was still able to qualify in top of B-Main. In Truggy, I went with Hole Shots all day and battled for TQ in Q1 and Q2 but ended up just missing it and qualified 2nd overall.
In the Mains I put a new motor in my Buggy and it made a huge difference and had some of the fastest lap times. Unfortunately, I just missed the bump as I had to pit and the top 2 risked it and finished without pitting but were only a car length ahead of me… great strategy on their part.
In the Truggy Main I started 2nd and after a 20-minute battle I finished 2nd but it was a great race so I am happy with it even though it’s my first Truggy race not winning, 2nd was still a podium!
Heading to another big opener at MBRC this weekend. I will be writing a blog about all 3 season openers after this weekend.
Thanks!
