Well AMS 5.0 has come and gone. With being my first big race out side of the west coast I was very anxious and nervous to race. I wanted to show Alabama what the racers in California are all about.
Practice day:
Practice had started and the line to drive took FOREVER! So there wasn’t much practice for everyone unless you had someone standing in line for you. The seeding practice was interrupted by a storm which caused the power to go out. So seeding would continue during the first qualifyer.
Qualifying:
There was 3 rounds of qualifying with one throw out. Truck qualifying went great! I Ended up starting 2nd overall and I was very pleased with that. Buggy qualifying was not the same. Sadly I broke in the first round of qualifying which seeded me in the D qualifier. 2nd round didn’t go much better. I had setup issues and my car was not dialed in for the current track conditions. 3rd qualifier came and with the help of “The Drake” we were able to get my car dialed in to help me qualify overall last in the B-Main.
Mains:
Buggy B-Main went great. Had a rough start but I knew what I had to do to bump and just kept trying to put solid laps together. Ended up 1st in the B which resulted in the Bump to the A-Main event. Truck A-Main also had a rough start with the same outcome. Very happy with my 8ight-t 3.0. Buggy A-Main was much more of a battle. The race was tight and a true test to my driving ability. I was able to complete the sweep of open buggy and open Truggy.
I used M3 VTR Holeshots on my 8ight-t 3.0 and they were amazing. I had plenty of enough forward bite to achieve the victory. Also they lasted the 30-min main event with plenty of tread left.
Also used M4 Blockades on my 8ight 3.0 and they felt like I was running on a carpet track. Spectacular traction through out the entire 30-min main with plenty of tire left.
My Novarossi engines ran with out a hiccup all week!
I would recommend everyone going to AMS if you have the chance!
