Racers from near and far made the trip to the Fear Farm in Phoenix AZ for the 2014 “The Dirt” Nitro Challenge. This race has become the staple for the opening season of Nitro Buggy and Truggy racing. Pro-Line Team drivers were in full force and the results show it.
Truggy was again the class for Ty Tessmann to dominate from the beginning of qualifying to the end of the main. Ty never let up on the competition, taking TQ Honors and the overall win for Pro-Line. This marks 3 consecutive wins in Truggy for Tessmann. Teammate Dakotah Phend was impressive in qualifying and put in a solid run during the main to give Pro-line another spot on the podium in 3rd. Drew Moller would finish 5th, Cody King 6th, Adam Drake 8th, Jeremy Kortz 9th, and Mike Truhe 11th. Pro-Line had 7 drivers in the main more than any other tire manufacture.
Buggy was a battle of skills and consistency around the huge Fear Farm layout. Pro-Line Factory Driver Dakotah Phend took TQ honors putting in two solid qualifying runs. In the Main, the battle was on between many top drivers from around the world. Ty Tessmann would go on to take the win while teammate Dakotah Phend would make a hard charge and finish second on the podium. Cody King would finish 5th giving Pro-Line 3 spots in the top 5.
Legends Class was added this year with some former World Champions and National Champions participating. Jeremy Kortz would go on the take the overall win with Chad Bradley in 3rd.
The Over 40 class had become very popular this year both the Buggy and truggy class wins would go to Don Vinkemulder from Chula Vista RC. Don chose Blockades in M3 for both his Buggy and Truggy wins.
Short Course was on Friday and Saturday. Pro-Line’s Lerone Hearn would take the win in open 4wd SC with using Blockade M3 tires. Nice work Leroy.
