We recently caught up with Chris Boots regarding the Montpellier Grand Prix that took place last weekend. Here is what Chris had to say:
“The weather this year at the Montpellier Grand Prix was the complete opposite to last year, so it was quite mild and warm for this time of year and luckily no rain. Elliott had a mixed qualification. There were only 3 rounds of qualification and 2 to count. The first round we decided to use Pro-Line M4 Hole Shot 2.0 as it was a very low traction track. Elliott put a good time in which put him well in the top 5. We decided we would continue using the M4 Hole Shot 2.0 tires and this gave us the best traction as we did try some other tyres in practice. In round 2 of qualifying we had a slight problem so we had to retire towards the end but was on for a good run. In the third round we just had to make sure we got in the top 10 to secure a place in one of the semi finals, which Elliott did with ease, still using the Hole Shot 2.0 M4.”
“We qualified for semi A and again we used the Holeshot M4. We did try the Diamond Back M4 but Elliott felt the Holeshot was better for him, which he decided to use for the semi final in which he was able to qualify 4th for the Main A Final.”
“Just before the start of our final it decided to spit with rain which made the track look very slippery so we decided that we would again use the Holeshot M4 as, after looking at the tyres after the semi-final, they looked in pretty good shape but unfortunately the sun came out and made the track quite abrasive but quite low grip and our tyres were completely shot after about 30 minutes and we were now struggling for pace. We had a small problem just before that whilst in second place and after a fuel stop we fell back down the order but he was struggling and unfortunately lost control and broke a wishbone. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the job done this year but we were happy with the pace of the car.”
“Elliott is really looking forward to The Dirt Nitro Challenge this weekend!”
