Mike Klausner won 2nd leg Austrian Championship 1:8 Onroad

The 2nd leg (of total 6) for the Austrian championship 1:8 On-road at MORAC-Graz (EC-B track 2008 – www.morac-graz.at) was again dominated by Mike Klausner! Having pole position, winning Semifinal (in Austria there are no Top-4 direct qualifier) and final a nearly perfect weekend for him!

After qualifying we had following result:

In the 45 minute final Mike Klausner pushed away in the beginning at first refueling (at 4:30) he had already a 5 seconds lead what was the time he need for one extra refuel stop he had to do against Herfried Pucher who was pitting at 5 minute mark. At minute 6 to 9 Klausner’s car became slower – it looked like he had a technical problem (it was no technical problem – more details later) – he lost more than 10 seconds again Pucher! After second refueling Klausner became again quickest on track and managed to close the gap to Pucher again! Now the lead was changing several times with refueling! At halftime mark Klausner was pushing extremely and managed very fast lap times and get a comfortable lead than at 23 mintues refuel with tire change (4 tire change in 8.5 seconds) – Pucher get again the lead! Klausner now pushing with new tires again and closing the gap to Pucher who was doing a 17 second tire change at minute 26 – now Klausner had a comfortable lead which he controlled until the end of the race!

After the final Michael Klausner explained his problem why his car became slower before second refueling – he had no feeling in has throttle finger – he was putting his hands to high and became a cramp – at pit stop he could shake his hands and get feeling again!
