Revelation always does a great job with the Kyosho Fall Classic (affectionately known as the “KFC”). 2012 was no different, as there was a fresh layout with the trademark big ski jump right in the middle.
The Kyosho Revelation Squad was out in full force, and the pits were a sea of red. That’s right, Revelation Raceway was invaded by… “The Red Army!”
The expert nitro qualifying was fast and furious, withCody, David and Jesse trading off the lead spot on the clock. David had done his homework, as he had his Revelation set-up on the car. When the music stopped, it was David who nabbed the TQ position, followed by Pro-Line Driver Cody King and Jesse Robbers. (Kyosho TQ sweep, with David, Cody, and Drew all TQing one class) In the final, Cody had the lead for a long time after the second pit stop, but some horrible luck with traffic resulting in a long crash foiled his chance to regain the lead. Cody would settle for third, with Ronnefalk 2nd, and Jesse Robbers swiping the win.
In the electric buggy class, it was Cody and his MP9e taking control right away and taking the TQ position. During the final, Brent Fiege was quick and mounted a challenge, but dropped back and eventually had some sort of mechanical issue. Pro-Line’s Cody Turner putting his electric driving skills to good use took the second spot, and a quick Revelation local DJ Sandate filled out the podium in 3rd. Cody used the new Team Orion R8 brushless system in his MP9 to get the job done, and Pro-Line Blockade tires in M4 compound.
Great weather and 13 filled heats made for a great fun day of racing. Thanks to all who came out. Here’s a few words from Cody:
“First I want to say thanks to all who came out to support the Kyosho race, and especially David Ronnefalk coming all the way from Sweden. It was nice to see all the Kyosho cars at the race, and we are pleased and proud to see how popular the MP9 is now in the US. Big thank you to Dana and everyone at Revelation Raceway for a great program and track, and of course to Team Kyosho for the great support and hosting the event every year. It just keeps getting bigger. There was a lot of good close racing with a battle in every class, and I think that makes the race more fun. Also a big thank you to my Dad for all his help and my fiancé Hollie for all her help in the pits. From here it’s a lot more testing and running for the Worlds.. see you in Argentina!”
