Event: Race for a Cure

This past weekend I attended the Race for a Cure at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen CT. The race is hosted by Pin Shop Hobbies and all proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society. The race takes place during the Goshen Stampede which is a large fair with a rodeo, demolition derby, concerts, truck pulls, and carnival rides. The track is located in the center of the midway with bleachers setup so spectators could sit and watch the racing action.
The track was built on a field with the grass cut short with clay jumps on top. During the first day of qualifying traction was very good, but as the weekend went on the grass got ripped up and the track became slick as the topsoil became exposed. The layout had a nice flow and was a lot of fun to race on. There were a couple tricky jumps that caused people problems, but those who got the timing right were rewarded with fast lap times.
During practice and the first day of qualifying, when there was still grass on the track, I used M3 Calibers mounted on F11 wheels with closed cell foams on the front and rear of my 4wd short course. For stadium truck I again chose M3 Calibers for the rear and M3 Edges up front, both with closed cells foams. Once the grass wore away the track became slick, so I switched to M3 Holeshots front and rear on the 4wd short course and M4 Holeshots for the rear of the stadium truck with M3 Holeshots for the front. All with closed cell foams.
Three qualifiers were run on Saturday and one Sunday morning. In stadium truck I won 3 out of the 4 qualifiers which gave me the overall TQ and the front starting position going into the triple A mains. In 4wd short course I qualified 5th overall.
By the time the mains started on Sunday most of the grass on the track was gone, so the traction was low and some pretty large holes developed as the surface started to break up. Even with the slick track my vehicles had plenty of traction with the tires I chose. In stadium truck I won A1 and A2 for the overall win and in 4wd short course I finished 3rd in A1 & A2 and 2nd in A3 giving me 3rd place overall.
