2wd Mod Buggy
I was able to take home the win in 2wd Mod Buggy after qualifying 2nd. In A1, I would finish 2nd after a great race with fellow Pro-Line Racing teammate Christian Pahud. In A2, I would be able to take the lead on lap 1, lead every lap, and hold off a late race fast charge from Reggie Tongue. After the tie breaker with A1 and A2, I would take the win. Depending on track conditions in each round, tires used were Pro-Line MC and M4 Positrons (rear)/Electrons (front). I utilized FDJ Blue tire prep on the MC compound tires. No tire prep used when running M4 compound.
4wd Mod Buggy
I took TQ in this class and went onto finish 2nd overall. In A1, I led the first couple of laps, but would go onto finish 2nd with fellow Pro-Line Racing teammate Danny Hepler taking the win. In A2, I would lead wire to wire and take the win. After the tie breaker between A1 and A2, I would finish 2nd overall. Again, depending on track conditions in each round, tires used were Pro-Line MC and M4 Positrons (rear)/Electrons (front). I utilized FDJ Blue tire prep on the MC compound tires. No tire prep used when running M4 compound.
I qualified 8th in Pro E-Buggy and would have a really good A1. After a rough start, I dropped back to 10th on lap 1. I would put in a solid 10 minutes and work my way back up through the field to finish 4th. In A2, I would struggle with the rapidly cooling track and selected a tire compound that was a bit too hard. I would finish 7th in A2. After points were calculated between A1 and A2, I would finish just outside of a podium spot in 6th. I was really comfortable on Pro-Line Racing S3 and S4 Slide Locks all weekend. S4 compound was used in the morning and evening/night time conditions when the temperatures were lower and grip was down. S3 was definitely the compound choice in the heat of the day when grip levels were highest. I preferred Slide Locks as the most consistent tread pattern for me, however, I used S3 Invaders on qualifying day. They were a bit less edgy than the Slide Locks in the middle of the qualifying day when the grip was the highest all weekend.
It was great to see an awesome turnout with 210 entries. The track crew did an excellent job building and prepping the track. I look forward to attending more events at Phil Hurd in the future.
