This past weekend we headed to Cullman, Alabama for the 2019 Alabama Manufacturers Shootout. This would be our first time attending this race.
We arrived late Wednesday night and were at the track bright and early Thursday morning for practice as we opted to run the practice option #1, we spent the day getting a setup and our tires figured out as we had not been there before and wanted to get as much data as possible.
Friday we had a final practice run for everyone and one qualifier, I was on a tq run in buggy and crashed on my own and ended up with a 4th, in truggy I tq’d the first round.
Saturday would be 2 more rounds of qualifying, and I would end up 4th overall in buggy and 2nd overall in truggy.
Some lower mains were run on Saturday night, and the rest were run on Sunday.
Up first on Sunday was the nitro buggy main, the changes in the track surface were huge between Thursday and Sunday, it even changed a lot from the A main warm up to the main, we had a 5 minute warm up early in the day for nitro buggy, the traction had come up a lot and my car was not setup for that. I made a few mistakes and had a couple of flame out issues due to no fault of my engines. I would end up finishing 9th overall, not the result I was going for but we will get it figured out for the nationals.
Up next was the truggy main, I battled the whole time with different drivers but in the end I was able to take the win.
There was a great effort by the whole Xray/RC America team, congratulations to the Xray drivers on their great results.
Thanks to my family for always supporting me, and thanks to my sponsors, Xray, RC America, Pro-Line, O.S Engines, Hobbywing, MKS, HUDY, VP fuels, Amain, Protek Rc, Lunsford, Avid RC, 110%, Darkside design, Stickit1 and most importantly I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with out him I wouldn’t be where I am today.
