The 2019 Desert Classic is in the books. The race had 300 entries and 150 drivers. The event started on Thursday for open practice/ seeding. From the first practice, my Kyosho cars were doing well.
I seeded 6th in mod truck, 8th in mod 4wd buggy, and 5th in mod 2wd buggy. In the first round of qualifying I got 3rd in mod truck, 8th in mod 4wd, and a 22nd in mod 2wd. In the second round of qualifying I got 3rd in mod truck again, 7th in mod 4wd buggy, and 8th in mod 2wd buggy. In the third round of qualifying I got 9th in mod truck, 11th in mod 4wd, and 11th in mod 2wd buggy. In the last round of qualifying, I needed to have really good runs to be able to be in the a mains. I got 8th in mod truck, 9th in mod 4wd, and 12th in mod 2wd buggy. After all the qualifying, I was 4th in truck, 9th in mod 4wd buggy, and 13th in mod 2wd buggy. I did not do well in the mod truck a main and mod 2wd buggy b main. I had the speed to be at the top, but I was not patient and I fell to the back.
The 4wd mains had plenty of ups and downs. Because I had to start in the back in all three mains, I had to work hard if I wanted to make the top 5. In the first a main, I made two passes in the first lap that put me in 7th. I stayed in 7th until the last couple laps when I dropped back to 8th. In the second main, I was in third until the last lap again when I dropped down to 8th. In the last amain, I was two laps into the race when I had to pull off the track due to a failure. I would like to thank Zach Rodgers and Kevin Palmer for all there help this weekend. I am looking forward to the next one. #Kyosho #Proline #Amain.com #Protekrc #Hobbywing #VpRacing #Sanwa #Avid #Ogio #Stickit1 #Hooked
