Pro-Line Racing‘s the Fix at Erzberg, Austria
For the third time now RC enthusiasts had the chance to conquer the trails of the Iron Giant with their Scale car. The Recon G6 had it’s tour stop here and we enjoyed it!
The main event was a 12-hour Endurance event. The drivers had to conquer as many laps as possible on a trail that was 1.7 km long. For people that did not want to do the full distance there was also the possibility to do 3 or 6 hours.
More relaxed drivers could do the Overland course. It had the character of a regular Recon G6 event.
The drivers in the 12h Class had the chance to get the products they were using certified. If a product survives the torture of the 12h Fix without any issues the manufacturer is allowed to use the “Recon G6 Certified” certificate on their products. In our scene this is used to point out the quality and reliability.
The winner of the previous two events, Jake Wright, came all the way from California to participate at this event. Hence, we were all thrilled what the race will be like and who was going to win.
The participants came from the US, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Belgium,UK and Austria and soon they separated into two groups: the guys that did normal scale pace and hiked along their car – and the ones that would use a more competitive attitude.
Surprisingly the speed of the leading group was pretty high. Lukas Klapfer was the first to exceed the marathon distance after 6:30.
In the end 5 drivers exceeded the marathon distance despite the oppressive heat of over 30 degrees C.
The Austrians showed that they know how to deal with the Iron Giant:
Lukas Klapfer (65 km)
Chris Scheurer (60 km)
Jake Wright (55 km)
