So last weekend I finally had the chance to get out and try the tire the scale world can’t stop talking about- The Pro-Line Hyrax. I went to our local spot, Cap Sante Park in Anacortes, Washington with my SCX10 (first gen) Jeep Jk. In the summer, this spot has incredible grip and some amazing lines.
“I have never tried a tire that had that much bite! There was no wheelspin, and it just motored up lines that I have trouble with in the summer in 90 degree weather!”
Not only that but it’s a nice, large location. Being winter in the PNW, nice days are few and far between, so on this day it was a brisk 34 degrees, and starting to rain. The dirt in between the large rock mounds had turned to mud and the rocks slick with water. I started out trying a few lines that are normally really difficult, even with my SCX10-2. My SCX just walked right up them. I was amazed, honestly if felt like cheating.
I have never tried a tire that had that much bite! There was no wheelspin, and it just motored up lines that I have trouble with in the summer in 90 degree weather! In ideal conditions, the Hyrax is going to be a monster. I had high expectations with all the hype I have heard regarding these, but they blew me away. Next up will be outfitting my Bomber and Yeti U4RC cars with the new 2.2 and having some incredible fun with them!
Here is a link to some video of them in action!
