Had an awesome time this weekend at the first round of the Tekno Winter Series race in Omaha, Ne! Decided to run three classes with a little over 100 entries was a bit of a chore but we got it figured out! After some fairly solid qualifying I was able to start 3rd in Nitro Buggy, 2nd in Truggy and 2nd in 4×4 SC. Going into the mains we knew it would be tricky as I was races 8 (Buggy) 9 (Sc) and 10 (Truggy) so that made for about an hour and ten minutes of racing back to back to back. In buggy I got off to a good lead and even though I made a few setup mistakes and didn’t have the fastest car I still was able to get within a couple seconds of the lead at one point, with a couple mistakes late race I would still come back to finish a strong 3rd! We learned from our mistakes and will adapt and come back stronger in the next one! In SC I had the lead for the first couple minutes but after some lap traffic and a couple bobbles on my part I just missed the podium.
In the Truggy race I started well taking the lead on lap two and stretched it out to about a 3/4 lap lead coming into our second pit, but unfortunately we made a bad call to stay out an extra lap to avoid pit traffic and ran out of fuel. Once I got back going I was 22-seconds off the lead, by the end of the race I got it down to 9-seconds but couldn’t quite close the gap. Congrats to Chris Marrant for running a strong race taking the win! Overall my cars performed flawlessly with no failures all weekend, tires stayed hooked up without any wear! The Triton L5 continues to impress with about 1 gallon on my buggy engine I was able to get just over 9 minutes!! Our BK servos performed perfectly staying cool and having plenty of speed and torque!
Overall a really awesome start to the indoor nitro season! We learned a few things and will be back even stronger in the next one!
