Had an amazing time at the 2016 ROAR Fuel Nationals at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, TX!
We made the 20-hour drive down to arrive on Monday night. After some rough practice rounds with a few issues I got it all sorted out for qualifying which went fairly well in buggy and not so good in truck, going into the weekend I had set some pretty high goals of B-Main in truck and Semifinals in Buggy. After qualifying I was solid in the quarter finals in Buggy! However after a few problems in Q3 and 4 I would be in the Truck D-Main.
Pro-Line M3 Fugitives were amazing…
Main day came around and I had won the D-Main in Truck to get into the C and unfortunately didn’t make it to the bump spot. In the Buggy 1/4 odd final I started 9th and on the down and quiet start we accidentally snuffed the engine out and not realizing there was no 1-minute call we got it going late starting 1/2 a lap back from 14th. After running hard laps I worked my way all the way up to 4th 5-seconds out of a bump spot to the semi-finals!
This would put me 33rd overall in the Nation!! I’m disappointed by the bad luck on the start but my Tekno NB48.3 was amazing all week and my Triton L4 gave me plenty of power to clear some of the large sections of the track with good mileage! Pro-Line M3 Fugitives were amazing being able to be ran in the 3rd, 4th quals, the 20-minute 1/4 final and a 30 minute junior race with tread still left!! As for the junior final I was doing good and in the top 3 battle ’til I lost concentration and made lots of mistakes, happens to the best of us.
But congratulations to Dillon Caldwell on the win, you earned it!
