The final weekend in March was spent at Beach RC where my wife and I raced at the 3rd Annual Shamrock Shimmy. We tackled things a little different for this race since I was finally able to convince my wife to step out of the pit area and onto the driver’s stand. She was pretty nervous but ended up participating in her first race, she was having so much fun after the first heat of racing that she added a second class and ended up racing in both the powder puff and novice divisions. I focused on 2WD Short Course and assisting her through out the day, which kept me busy. It was definitely a little unusual from a typical race day but we had a lot of fun and it turned out to be a very memorable weekend.
In 2wd Short Course, I took TQ honors and 1st place with my Pro-Line PRO-2 SC Truck. The truck continues to perform really well in 2016 and has put together a string of four consecutive podium finishes. My PRO-2 is equipped with green seal Boca Bearings, a Maclan MRR 8.5T motor and for this race I selected M4 (Super Soft) Pro-Line Electrons which I felt provided the most traction.
My wife ended up finishing 4th and 5th in her two classes and has already asked what other tracks offer a powder puff class since she had a blast.
As always, I would like to say thank you to the team managers for allowing me to represent their companies: Pro-Line, Maclan, Xpert Servos, Boca Bearings, BoomRC, Venom batteries and Bullit Performance R/C hobby shop in Raleigh, NC.
