Mason Eppley TQ at CVR Raceway on Pro-Line Hole Shots

podium

Friday morning started off with an alarm clock going off at 4:30 am for the long 5 hour drive drive north to CVR Raceway in Madera, CA for the 10th annual North vs South race. I arrived at the track around 10:30 am to start off my day of practice. Right out of the gate both of my Tekno rides were dialed, I didn’t have to make a single adjustment! Practice all day Friday went super smooth, as I felt really confident with with both my NB48.3 Nitro Buggy and my EB48.3 E-Buggy heading into race day on Saturday.

After a couple more practice runs early Saturday morning to get my groove back, Qualifying would begin. There ended up being 3 heats of 9 cars each in both E-Buggy and Pro Nitro Buggy. My E-Buggy would be first up for me, I would end up having a good run only making 1 bobble and taking the round 1 TQ by over 14-seconds. In Nitro I would struggle as my engine had a rich bottom end, I would struggle to make a few of the jumps that would need a lot of low end power. I would unfortunately be at the back of the pack. In round 2 I would once again grab the TQ in E-Buggy and go into the Main sitting on the pole. While in Nitro Buggy I would have a poor run, but luckily it was good enough to put me in the Main…

After sometime to prep my cars for the mains, they would start. My E-Buggy Main would be first, I would start on the pole and never look back. I would lead wire to wire and take the win, lapping up to 3rd place! Now it was time for the Pro Nitro Buggy Main, I would start on the 9th spot. Early on I would get my way up to 3rd, as the race went on 2nd through 6th would battle the entire time. Ultimately I would make a bad mistake coming onto the back straight away that would cost me the 3rd spot, I would settle for 6th. Both engine and car were dialed in the main!

Overall I had a great time this last weekend, I hope I represented the north good! I had a lot of fun and also met a lot of cool people and made a lot more friends! I want to say a huge thanks to my sponsors for all their help and continued support, without them I definitely would not be where I am today!
