Last weekend was the Minnesota Nitro Series Finals and Seth would be debuting the new Ty Tessmann Edition D8T and racing for the title in 1:8 Nitro Buggy with his D812. First round of qualifying went well. Seth would TQ Truck and miss TQ in Buggy by .4 to Omaha native, Team Kyosho’s Dillan Voelker. Second round was ballistic in Truck with an 18 lap flawless run in Truck to secure the overall TQ. In Buggy bad luck struck when a clutch issue caused an engine cut, knocking him way down in the qual points. Third round of Truck was business as usual, with Seth testing changes for the Main. The run was not as fast or as clean, so the changes we tried went the wrong way. Seth was still fast enough to TQ the round gaining good setup info for the Main. Seth would struggle in the third round of Buggy, also testing more changes for the Main. This ended up being a huge mistake taking 11th in the round would knock him out of the A-Main and force him to start 2nd in the B-Main.
Nitro Buggy B-Main:
The start of the B-main went off with no problems at the front of the field. Other than a mistake a few laps in Seth would lead the entire race and finish 3 1/2 laps clear of the field. Seth was running conservative most of the race, I let him know with 2-minutes left he could drop the hammer as he had the race won at this point. We needed to know if he could push the pace. He had some good laps but when pushing the car it was missing something? With a fresh set of tires and a couple of adjustments we were ready. Now time for some car prep and to focus on the mains.
Nitro Buggy A-Main:
The start of the A-Main could not have been scripted any better. Seth would work his way through traffic quickly and take the lead before the 6-minute mark. Seth and Team Mugen’s Josh Ford would battle out front for the next 15-minutes when Seth started to break away. With 2-minutes to go and an 8-second lead it looked like a cruise to victory. As luck would have it, an extremely worn rear hinge pin holder would break. Seth drove the last 4 laps with the front end pulling him to finish 2nd. Seth Used Pro-Line M3 Hole Shot 2.0’s
Nitro Truggy A-Main:
The start went well and with three laps in, Seth was checked out! But a computer malfunction would cause a restart. On the restart Seth again put in clean fast laps with his new Ty Tessmann Edition D8T, Equipped with Pro-Line Bulldog Body, M4 Hole Shots and Trifecta Wing to lead the Main Tone to Tone. Using the power and fuel mileage of his VP Powermaster fuel to get him there.
Minnesota Nitro Series Championships:
His only Main at the finals to decide the series champion was the Nitro Buggy. Seth had locked up E-Buggy and Truggy championships prior to the finals. All Seth needed was 5th place or better to lock up his 3rd title of the season.
So he ended with a perfect sweep of all three classes he competed in!
Thanks to VP Powermaster, Hot Bodies/HPI racing, Pro-Line Racing, KoPropo, Team Orion, Full Throttle Raceway and King Kong Hobbies. With all of his new sponsors help and great determination, after some adversity during the long racing season. Seth has shown he wants this and is willing to work hard for it!
