ROAR Region 8 Regionals
9/19 – 9/21
I made the trip to Fastlane Raceway for the ROAR Region 8 1/10th Championships. This race was unquie because the race was held on their 1/8 outdoor track. I competed in Mod 2wd, Mod 4wd, and 4wd SC. All three of my cars were dialed using a variety of Pro-Line tires throughout the changing conditions over the weekend.
For practice the track was still green with moisture and a little fluff. I used M3 Holeshots for all my cars. As the track grooved up for qualifying, I switched to Subrurbs and Electrons in X2, M3, and M4 for all the changing track temps in the hot afternoon to the cool nights.
In 2wd, I had some motor issues throughout qualifying, so I ended up in the middle of the B. In 4wd, I lost the tie breaker (less than 1 sec) for the last spot in the A. So both buggies could have gone better, but the cars were great all weekend.
Now on to 4wd SC. In qualifying I was able to TQ 2 of 4 rounds using a combo of M3 Holeshots, X2 and M4 Suburbs. With my qualifying I was able to lock down TQ. For Sunday’s triple A’s the track started to break up with a fine layer of dust on the groove. I chose M3 Holeshots for my main day and was able to take the overall win by winning A1 and A2. My Holeshots and Flo-tek Raptor F150 were on rails all weekend and it showed.
Overall it was a great race weekend. Both my cars worked great, and my Pro-Line tires never let me down. I would like to say thanks to all my sponsors for the 2014 season, Pro-Line, Byrons Fuel, Castle Creations, Airtronics, Xray, Rcamerica, Hudy, Lutz R/C, Boom R/C, and a special thanks to Riggs designs for the awesome paint work.
