Race Report : No Limits RC of PA North vs South RC Shootout with Shaun Duffy

On Saturday I attended the No Limits RC of PA North vs South RC Shootout at the Carlisle Truck Nationals 2014 event.

This is a very different style of racing than I’m used to. They set up the track the night before and it was intentionally made to be rougher than your usual race track. The races were set up in a bracket style double elimination format. Racers went head to head for two laps and the first to cross the finish line won. I raced in the 2WD SCT and 4×4 SCT classes.

In the 2WD SCT class I raced my PRO-2 SC Truck. During the first race I rocketed into the lead with the help of the M3 Blockades! However, after a few turns I realized that something was wrong with my steering. I believe the aftermarket aluminum steering bellcrank I was using bent and was binding. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to continue, I slowed to allow the younger guy to win since he would be able to continue.

In the 4×4 SCT class I drove my highly modified TRAXXAS® Slash equipped with the ProTrac suspension kit and M3 Blockades. With the ProTrac suspension kit on the Slash 4×4 allows it to carve the turns like a completely different truck! The M3 Blockades really bit into the track surface giving me the traction and steering I needed to win. At the end of the day I placed 3rd.
