Race Report: Lone Star Nitro Challenge with Ty Tessmann

TY

This past week we attended the Lone Star Nitro Challenge which was also used as the nationals warm-up.

This is the largest track that we have ever run on and it was very challenging . During practice Ty was able to get a really good set up on all three of his cars E-buggy, nitro buggy and truck. He went on to TQ all 4 rounds of E-buggy and truck and TQ’d 2 rounds of buggy combined with a 2nd and a 4th gave him over all TQ in all 3 classes!

Electric buggy was up first which after a bad start Ty was able to recover and take the win by 8 seconds.

In truck Ty started in front and never looked back steadily pulling away from the field! He got a lead and managed that lead to the 45 min A-main win from start to finish.

In Nitro buggy Ty started on pole for the first semi final and was able to stay in the lead for the entire semi and was able to build a gap between himself and second place and ended up running the fastest semi time of the 2 which would have him start on pole for the main. When the main started Ty and Adam Drake pulled a bit of a gap on the field but Ty lost the lead when he had to come in for his first fuel stop, then battled with Adam Drake, Ryan Maifield and Cody King for most of the race. Cody King’s 10 minute fuel stops compared to Ty’s 7.5 minute fuel stops and Ty’s flameout just coming across the line for his second pit stop would prove to be a big disadvantage but his excellent driving brought him to right behind Cody on the 2nd to last corner where he tried to make a pass but backed off when Cody shut the door. On the last corner Ty again tried to go on the inside but ended up bumping Cody and spinning himself around and finished 1.76 seconds behind.

Ty used the X2 Blockades on both buggy and truck, Type-R buggy body and BullDog Truggy body at the Lonestar race.

All in all it was a great weekend with a great drive from Ty and we are looking forward to the nationals.  Thanks to all of Ty’s sponsors for the awesome support once again, we couldn’t do it without all of you.

Thanks,
Ty and Gord Tessmann
