The weather at the May 17th KYRCRC Club Race at the Woodford County RC Track in Versailles, KY was outstanding and perfect for another outing of all the local RC racers.
2wd SCT was the most popular class with 16 drivers, followed by 1/8 E-Buggy.
As expected I had to make a number of adjustments to chase down the track conditions. The track remained loose all day, something that we rarely see at Woodford County RC Raceway. During round one the track was still damp and had pretty good traction in the corners. As the day progressed and the sun beat down on the track, a significant dust layer built up in the corners and steering became quite a challenge, especially if you took the corners wide.
Running Blockades M3 in the morning was perfect and the PRO-2 SC Truck seemed to eat up the track, however as the day progressed the Blockades lost their grip during turning. Upgrading to Bow-Fighters would have been a great option based upon the changes that the faster drivers were making. However, since that wasn’t and option, I made a number of small changes that seemed to keep me in the hunt. In fact in round 3 my car was running quite well until I lost a CVD pin when another driver collided with my left rear. All in all it was a great day considering it was my first time running the PRO-2 SC truck and I am still relatively new to RC.
One thing is for sure, the PRO-2 caught the eye of many of the drivers and kept my pit area hopping with questions and lookers. I look forward to my next race and getting the PRO-2 back out on the track!
