Race Report: Ice Breaker with Adam Drake

This past weekend was the Ice Breaker at Indy RC World.  Indy R/C Worlds has an onsite hobby shop, indoor pitting, and indoor off-road track.  The layout for the Ice Breaker was very technical and had lots of jumps.  Qualifying was dominated by TLR, Nova Rossi, Pro-Line driver Adam Drake. Drake TQ’ed all three round of qualifying in both nitro buggy and nitro truck.

Pro-Line M3 Holeshots were the tire of choice for most racers during qualifying.

The track grooved up throughout the weekend and was high bite for the mains on Sunday.  In the 45 minute truck final, Drake slowly pulled away and won the final.  Second place went to Josh Glancy making it a TLR, Nova Rossi, Pro-Line 1, 2.

In the buggy final most of the guys switch to a harder compound tire (X3 Blockades).  The 45 minute buggy final was a great race between Drake and Glancy.  Both drivers were pitting at 11:30 with their Nova Rossi powered 8ight 3.0 buggies.  They exchanged the lead throughout the race and finished only 1-2 seconds apart. In the end, Josh Glancy took the win followed by Adam Drake and Taylor Peterson finished third a lap down to the leaders.  1,2,3 for Nova Rossi engines!  TLR’s Cody Hollis took the win in electric 1/8th buggy as well.
