Pro-Line Driver Elliott Boots takes TQ and Win At BRCA National Warm-up with Diamond Back tires!

We were blessed with some Mediterranean weather for our BRCA Nationals Warm-up race at our local Hertz track – the track was in great shape, very fast flowing multi-surface with lots of jump sections.  We arrived on the Saturday to test our car with the engine and tyre setup.  We had a great day’s testing – got the car really dialed into the track and Elliott feeling very confident with his 2014 package.

We arrived on Sunday morning, again to glorious weather – sun shining and blue skies – something we haven’t seen for a while.  The track conditions were dry but very hard packed and with over 150 drivers in attendance it was an amazing turn out for the sport as it is important at these races to put a good show on as there are a lot of good customers needing help and advice.  Qualifying was to be 3 rounds, 2 to count for TQ.

Qualifying

Qualifying went very, very well.  Elliott was able to TQ all 3 rounds, setting some stunning lap times and with some small errors along the way was able to stay in front at all times.  We were running our new Reds R5 engine with Byron fuel which ran faultlessly all weekend and we were testing various tyres and we opted for Pro-Line Diamond Back in X3 Compound which gave us the best traction and were very, very fast on this track.  We did try some Big Blox which worked extremely well but for the sheer speed of the tyre the Diamond Back was the best for our car.  Our Kyosho MP9 TKI3 was stunning all weekend.  We made a few small setup changes but generally it felt fast and stable all weekend.

Final

Elliott was on pole for the Main A Final – due to the amount of drivers the final was cut short as it was beginning to get dark.  Elliott was able to lead off the pack and make a good gap between second place but unfortunately made a small error coming through the chicane which demoted him back to third but with some fast lap times set was able to recover very quickly and was able to move back into the lead and then he was able to settle down into the race, pulling away from the rest of the following pack.  He then was able to back off his pace as he had the race under full control and felt very comfortable knowing he had plenty in reserve if needed.

We now have a return to this track next weekend for the start of our BRCA National Campaign for the 1:8 Electric, which we are really looking forward to as we will be running with our new Tekin equipment and will be setting the car similar to our Nitro car.

We would also like to say that anyone that needs any help or advice on tyres, engines or car setup please don’t hesitate to come over and see us at any time – there is always someone around with good advice if needed.

Elliott would like to thank all his sponsors for all their help and support for his 2014 race season.

Regards
Chris and Elliott Boots
