Event: Race for a Cure
Location: Goshen Fairgrounds, Goshen CT
Classes Entered: Modified Stadium Truck, Modified 2wd Short Course, Unlimited 4wd Short Course
For the past 4 years Pin Shop Hobbies has hosted the Race for a Cure at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen, CT during the Goshen Stampede. This event is pretty unique as it takes place right on the midway of the fair so there is a constant stream of people walking by with many stopping to watch the racing action.
Unfortunately, the track crew was forced to reduce the size of the track due to heavy down pours all day Thursday that completely flooded and ruined the original layout they completed the night before. With little time to get the track rebuilt, they brought in additional topsoil and woodchips and came up with a smaller layout that was both fun and challenging.
On stadium truck I ran M4 Hole Shots on the front and rear with the stock open cell foam in the rear and closed cell foams in the front. For 2wd short course I used M4 Hole Shots on the rear and M3 up front, both with the stock foam and mounted on F11 wheels. In 4wd I used M4 Hole Shots front and rear with the stock foams mounted on F11 wheels. All tires were new at the start of qualifying and I used them through all 3 qualifiers and the main. On both my 2wd and 4wd short course truck I used the Flo-Tek Chevy Silverado 1500 body.
Two qualifiers were run on Saturday and one Sunday morning. In stadium truck I won all 3 qualifiers which gave me the overall TQ. In 2wd short course I qualified 2nd and in 4wd I qualified 3rd overall.
By Sunday the track was pretty well blown out as the surface broke up around most of the track. Even with the slick and bumpy track, my vehicles had plenty of traction with the tires I chose. After all the mains were run I ending up winning both stadium truck and 2wd mod short course and I came in 2nd in 4wd short course.
