Kyle McBride Race Report – Meakin Masters 2013

The annual race called the Meakin Masters here in Brisbane, held every year at the Meakin Park track! With winning the last 4 Meakin Masters race since I was 12, I was looking for my 5th win for this race in a row. This weekend I ran my TKI3 Buggy and my STRR EVO Truck. We had a few hours practice on Friday at the track where I just wanted to run my cars and get my engine tune down with my new Clockwork Venturis. My Kyosho cars were working perfect as always I didn’t make many setup changes. On Saturday I came into qualifying feeling very confident with my cars and managed to TQ the first round of qualifying in both classes, I then went on to TQ both classes overall for all the rounds we had. With my new Clockwork Venturis I was able to get 10 minutes out of my engines which further helped me easily get the TQ in my races and allowed me to just focus on my race without having to come in for fuel.

The track was changing quite a bit throughout qualifying and the finals, on the Sunday the track started to create a blue groove but also was getting rougher in some sections. There were no semi-finals for this race just straight into the A-main final and away we went. In the truck final I decided to run the M3 Caliber tires and I had a great start and got the first few minutes in with clean laps and started to pull away from 2nd and eventually went on to win the 30 minute race by two laps, my truck felt awesome and everything was running great as well as the new added feature with my bodies!

In the buggy final me and my pitman (father) decided that we wanted to try the M3 Blockade as the track was getting a groove, we decided to run this tire literally a few minutes before the final as I had some already glued up and ready to go. We put these tires on in my warmup and my car felt AMAZING, so I decided to stick with that tire and off went the buzzer. I got off to another sweet start and just put in 5 minutes of clean laps and then started to pull my gap away from the rest of the pack, I also went on to win by 2 laps over the field after the 30 minute final and secured my 5th straight Meakin Masters title.

Overall it was a great weekend, my Kyosho cars were working great as usual and my Pro-Line tires giving the best grip all weekend along with the power of my OS Engines and KO Propo electronics. I couldn’t ask for a better package, everything was great!
