This past weekend I attended the Grass Roots Racing Series race at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont CA. The event had 145 entries. Thunder Alley will also host the first round of the JBRL Series in a few weeks. The weather was cool in the morning, but warmed up by mid-day to around 80 degrees. The track was hard packed and very technical. I used Pro-Line M3 Hole Shots for both buggy and truck and was the overall TQ in both classes.
In the truck final I got a great start and won by two laps. In the buggy final I battled with Drew Moller early, but was able to put in clean and consistent laps and had almost a lap lead with 5 minutes to go when I had a steering servo problem. I was and to keep it on the track and limp it around for the final 5 minutes and finish second behind Drew Moller. Cody Smith finished third to make it a Pro-Line 1,2,3 on the podium.
