Pro-Line’s Simon Willetts takes CML Winter Round 3

This past Sunday saw the third round of the CML Winter Series take place at Stoke-Nitro which ran a total of 33 drivers in attendance.

Qualifying:
In the buggy class it was a race between Simon Willetts and Jon Howells for the TQ spot. Round 1 went to Mugen driver Simon Willetts with a 5 second gap over CML/Pro-Line driver Jon Howells and Mugen driver Ashlee Owen who secured 3rd place. Round 2 went to Jon, who put in a strong clean run, improving on the FTD by 2 seconds, Simon made a mistake on the double section which cost him some time, but he still managed to finish 2 seconds behind Jon and Ash, taking 3rd in the round. Round 3,  Willetts had made a few changes to his Novarossi powered MBX7. He must have been happy with the changes, as Pro-Line‘s Simon Willetts took the last round of qualifying, setting a new FTD and was the only driver to go sub 41 second a lap. Jon finished in 2nd and Ben Riley 3rd, the top 10 after qualifying

Finals:
Buggy B Final saw Pete Hedley check out from the start to take the first bump up spot, Matt Jackson and Ashley Jones had a close race for the last bump spot, but it was Matt that took it in the end by 4 seconds over Ashley.
The A Final started and most drivers got a clean start, Simon made a small mistake during lap 2 which allowed Jon to take the lead, but Simon responded straight away, and within 3 corners had regained the lead and started to pull away from the pack, Jon managed to pull away from Ashlee and the chasing pack but could not match the pace of Simon with his Mugen MBX7, Simon won the final and was the only driver to do 32 laps and a sub 41 sec lap in the main, Jon came in 2nd and Ashlee 3rd.
