This past weekend was the Grass Roots Racing Series Final at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, Ca. Over 130 local electric racers attended the final race at the famed Thunder Alley track in spite of the extremely hot temperatures. Pro-Line’s own Gerardo Gonzalez and Matt Wallace attended the race with our new Slash 2WD SC trucks with Pro-Line prototype parts ready for battle in the Expert Open class. After 2 rounds of intense heads-up start qualifying rounds, Matt would sit 2nd on the grid for the main event.
The main event would prove to be one of the most intense races I have ever been a part of. 1st through 5th place battled bumper to bumper for the first 5 minutes of the 8 minute main event. Eventually, 1st place truck Steve Harris and 2nd place Matt Wallace would break away a bit from the field and do battle to the end for the race win. On the last lap, Steve Harris bobbled slightly down the staircase section and I snuck to inside and took the lead. Steve charged hard but would end up on the bad side of a mid-air door to door collision allowing me to cruise to Victory! Pro-Line’s new soon to be released LCG chassis for the 2WD Slash, won in its debut race in the highly competitive Expert Open SC class against full race Kyosho, Losi and Associated trucks! My Pro-Line truck was dialed!
Gerardo and Matt would also compete in the 4wd SC class and 1/8th electric buggy class at the event. Matt qualified 4th in 4wd SC and took home a podium spot with a 3rd! Gerardo finished a close 4th place in 4×4 SC!
There were over 20 guys in the Expert Electric 1/8 buggy class and Gerardo qualified for the A with a 7th spot on the grid and Matt qualified 3rd overall. The tough10 minute main proved difficult after a long hot day and doing back-to-back-to-back A-mains and marshal duties. Gerardo would finish 7th and Matt would take home the 6th spot.
Overall, a great day for Pro-Line and I can’t wait for you guys to experience how amazing the performance of a fully tricked out Slash truck really is with all the Pro-Line upgrades!
