It was Super Cup make up week and we once again found ourselves heading back to Hurrican R/C . This was the make up race for Rd3 back in March, heavy rains put a quick end to the weekend and the race was quickly rescheduled by the Jconcepts crew. The track was grooved and ready from the FORCE series race the weekend prior. It was set to be a fast track for Friday practice. Mother Nature had her owns plans in store for us and the current track conditions. With heavy rains Wednesday and some on thursday it looked as if the race would be called again. With some amazing work by the Hurricane R/C track crew and several volunteers they were able to get the track repaired and in decent shape for Friday practice. Saturday was here and the track still a little work.
Qualifying:
Qualifying finally got underway around 10:30 St Buggy was the 2nd race on the track. Was a little nervous to begin the day, it was to be my first race with my new Kyosho Rb5 Sp. Track was a little slick and the Buggy still needed some work ended up 4th in my heat. Next up was my St truck. The track had time to dry and started to groove and the Truck was hooked up from the sound of the tone. Finished 2nd 2 secs of TQ pace. So after round 1 had some work to do sitting 7th in Buggy and 4 th in Truck. With the help of Pro-Line Team mate Jason Venezia we made some adjustments and switched to a softer compound rear tire. I was Ready for Rd 2. First up was the Rb5 Buggy. The track was getting really good and the Buggy was even better. Finished 3rd in my heat. Buggy felt much better but was still missing something. It was time for truck again was on a TQ run until the last lap I cut a pipe rolled it over and ended up 2nd.
Mains:
So after qualifying was said and done I had put my self 4th on the Grid in St Buggy and 2nd in St truck. Made another Tire change again and small adjustments and I was ready to go. All I could do is sit and wait for Race 15 and 17. The time finally came.
Stock Buggy:
Tracy Carver set the pace with a TQ run of 11/5:28 in qualifying. I was starting 4th on the grid and feeling pretty good and ready to go. The tone sounded and off we went. Carver had some mechanical issues early which left the door open for Bruce Bennett and Pro-Line’s young Tilar Pollack followed closely by Jconcepts young Austin Venezia. Bruce would also have mechanical issues and leave the battle to the young guns, Pro-Line’s Tilar Pollack and Jconcepts Austin Venezia. When it was all said and done Tilar Pollack came across the line first followed by Austin Venezia and rounding out the third and final Podium postion was Shae peterson.
Tilar Pollack 11 /5:26.6
Austin Venezia 11 / 5:30.1
Shea Peterson 10 / 5:00.04
Next up was my St Truck sitting 2nd on the grid I felt pretty good truck was just getting better and better.
Stock Truck:
Stock Truck: Tone sounded and into the first turn the truck felt awesome. Lap two Tilar Pollack took the lead and never looked back. Bruce made a charge and got within 2 secs of the lead, but consistant mistake free laps by Tilar Pollack made it hard for Bruce to gain any ground. Tilar was able to take his 2nd win of the day in St Truck. Followed by Bruce Bennett in the 2nd postion and Jconcepts driver Tracy Carver in the 3rd and final podium position. First time winning 2 races in one event. I was carried off the stand by Jconcepts driver Tracy Carver.
Tilar Pollack 11 / 5:24.5
Bruce Bennett 11 / 5:26.2
Tracy Carver 10 / 5:03.7
