Once again it was time to hit the road to Coral Springs for the JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series race #4. Friday practice at CSRCCC had threatening skies looming overhead with a thirty percent chance of rain for race day, Saturday afternoon. Well all thirty percent seemed to pour down Saturday morning. A few phone calls were made and now there was a plan B which was put into effect to relocate the event to Basher’s indoor RC Raceway in Palm Beach Gardens Scene of Rd 1. Special thanks to Brian Buckley owner of Basher’s RC Raceway for having a well prepared venue, able to host 185 racers at a moments notice.
Qualifying finally got underway around 12:30. Up first was my Buggy wrong choice of tire compound made it for a rough qualifier. Next up was my truck bad luck and a bad break did me in. So after Rd one was sitting in Both Bmains mid pack. 3 hours later it was time to do it again. Made a couple set up changes along with tires. The B4.1 was ready and layed down 22 laps in 5:04 and put myself 4th on the Grid in the A-Main. Next up was the truck. still had set up issues truck was not there yet but still managed to lay down a 21 lap run which set me in the 8th and Final starting spot for the A-main. So at the end of Round 2 found myself in both Amains with some work still to do in Truck. During the break got to work making some set up changes on the truck and changed tire compounds and it was ready.
First main was my Buggy. Tone sounded and race on, got caught up in a first lap crash and dropped like a rock all they way to last. 2 minutes in battled all the way back to 3rd and was on a pretty good run 1 minute to moved into 2nd and was running down the leader. Pushing a little to hard and hit a couple pipes and lost touch with the leader and on the final turn cut a corner to tight and rolled it over that allowed the 3rd place buggy to pass me on the last lap. So I finished 3rd .005 behind 2nd.
Time for the truck A-main starting 8th seemed to be to deep in the field but it worked to my advantage. Horn sounded and off we went the top 5 cars all got piled up in the first turn and I went to the outside and found my self in 3rd after the first lap. The 3 of us checked out and never looked back. 45 sec left to go and I started having issues motor moved off a bad landing and starting stripping the spur gear. Got passed by the 4th place car for third. So end of the day I ended up with a 3rd in Buggy and 4th in Truck. Ran M3 Suburbs for for Qualifying and M4 for the mains.
