Well it was finally time for the Jconcepts Super Cup Series to kick off. Round 1 was held at Bashers RC Raceway in Palm Beach Gardens Florida. This is an Indoor clay track, pretty much grooved all the time. Rd 1 was over 170 entries strong with some of the top drivers in Florida attending. Drivers like Ryan Eckert, Bret Kingsbury, Paul Wynn, Mr. Jconcepts himself Jason Ruona and Jconcepts young gun Daimon Borkowicz with a host of others. Team Pro-Line was represented well with Leon McIntosh, Mike Applegate, Jason Venezia, Matthew Scott, Ricky Layman and me (Tilar Pollack).
17.5 2wd Buggy was my first race up. I started the day very well coming in 2nd in my qualifier. My M3 Suburbs and Scrubs were hooked up all day. Next up was my 17.5 St Truck. Truck was hooked up from the sound of the horn. I was on TQ pace until the last 2 minutes when I popped a ball cup and that was it. After qualifying was said and done I ended up Starting 6th in the A-main in St Buggy and 8th in St Truck.
When the mains finally came around it was game time. It started a little rough in 2wd Buggy I got caught up in a crash on lap 2 and went all the way to the back of the pack. Then I took a deep breath and ran some of the fastest laps of the day. I moved all the way up to 2nd with 2 minutes to go getting within 5 sec. of the lead and got taken out by a lapped buggy on the last lap and ended up 4th.
In St Truck I started 8th on the grid and moved my way up pretty fast. Again I found myself in 2nd place with 2 minutes to go. I was chasing down the leader and just made to many mistakes and ended up 4th again. Overall not a bad way to start the series with 2 top 5 finishes. Team driver Mike Applegate TQ’d and won Mod Truck.
Round 2 is Feb 25th at Newred Hobbies Raceway in Ocals Florida.
