This weekend I got the entire family up to my local race track Coyote Hobbies in Victorville, CA. It was my dad’s 55th birthday this past Monday and we decided to go RC racing together with my brother also. We got there early on Saturday so we could have a good time and run a lot of batteries through our cars. I had a great time with my brother and dad practicing as we all drive pretty well. Got all the fun family bashing out of the way before racing started.

First to race was my brother Nick who took the 2wd Stock SC win with his RTR SC10 after just getting his first RC car since a 15 year break. He also finished 2nd in the stock buggy race with his 15 year old losi buggy. My dad Martin was able to take 4th in both the 2wd Superstock SC and Mod SC races. I took the win in 2wd Superstock SC and 2wd Mod SC for the night. The real battle for me was in the 4wd SC class where newcomer to the class Jason Bales was putting up a battle. Jason had a almost flawless race and took the win after I made a few mistakes. I’m still struggling with the setup on my SC10 4×4 but am heading back to the track this week for some more testing.

Today I decided to take a road trip down the hill and race at West Coast Raceway this Saturday. I really like this track and facility. 2 days ago I just finished building a brand new Losi Ten-SCTE to try out this weekend. As my first race with this truck I really liked the way it handled and worked. I qualified 2nd in the 4×4 SC race but ended up 4th in the main after making too many mistakes and getting tangled with some slower racers. In the 2wd Mod SC I was able to TQ and had a flawless main event coming away with 1st place by over 1/2 lap.

This was my first time at this track and I have to say it was the best outdoor track I have been to so far. My brother, dad and I arrived at about 3:30 to get some practice in before the races start at 7. The track crew/ manager was great and did an excellent job at keeping the track prepped throughout the evening. I had my 4×4 Losi working pretty good and was able to take the TQ and main event win with ease. My new Tekin Pro 4 4600kv motor was working awesome. I couldn’t believe the power this thing has and was the only driver able to clear the quad section in front of the drivers stand. In the Mod 2wd SC race it was a battle between my brother Nick and I the entire time. In the first heat we battled the entire race and Nick made a mistake in the last turn giving me the heat win. In the 2nd heat I made the pass for the lead a few laps before the end and took the win again. We had a great battle in the main during the first 3 minutes until Nick made 1 big mistake giving me a large enough gap to take the main event win. My dad Martin was able to TQ the stock SC class but had a few big mistakes in the main costing him a lot time and putting him back a few positions. All of our Pro-Line tires worked great all evening giving us the edge over our competition. I used Holeshots on my 2wd and Snipers on my 4wd. Nick used Soft Calibers and my dad used Snipers.
