Wed Night Thunder Short Course
Thunder Alley SC Racing
9-7-11
By Chris Blais
I decided to go out and try some Outdoor Shortcourse racing at Thunder Alley in Beaumont, CA. They have Wednesday night Thunder Short Course Racing during the summer. I took my Associated SC10 4X4 and my SC10 2wd to represent my local shop, Coyote Hobbies Victorville. I spent an hour getting my car setup to work properly as this was my first time doing outdoor racing.
I had the track down with my 4X4 and took both heat wins and the Top Qualifier (TQ). I had a tough time with getting the 2wd to hook up but as the night progressed, my setup was moving in the right direction. I qualified 2nd in 2wd Mod SC and took the win in the main and lapped the entire field in the 7-minute main. Next up was the 4wd main. I got out front and never looked back. I ended up having a flawless run and took the win. There was a few guys there from Pro-Line Racing that I beat that night. I ended up getting invited to join the Pro-Line Racing team which was a great end to an already awesome night!

Tonight was about the same as last week, except I was on my fresh Pro-Line tires and was joined by Coyote Hobbies owner, Dave Batta, and another high desert racer, Andrew Bascal. I had a great night with my 4×4 and took both the TQ and main event wins. Andrew finished 2nd in the 4×4 SC race representing Coyote Hobbies well. I struggled again with my 2wd setup but was able to barely take the win over Mr. Lance Cambell. We had a great race, bumped each other a few times and waited for one another to keep the battle going. Dave ended up 4th place in the main and had a great time trying out something different. We’re excited for the next race.
Thanks to all my new sponsors:
