X-RC.ORG RC-Hillclimbing World Games have been held last weekend (June 11th and 12th at “Hacksteiner-Hills” in Faistenau Austria!
Again we saw great competition – but some drivers did not appear because of the very bad weather forecast. On Saturday morning, we had cloudy but dry weather! At free practice we had up to 15 cars testing the hill at the same time without any problems – no car managed to conquer the hill during free practice (65 meters from start to finish line).
At 10:00 o’clock the 1st qualification round was started. The first competitor Christian Brachmaier made with his .30 OS powered HPI Trophy Truggy a “Full Hill” in 15.5 seconds on his first attempt. Half an hour later Michael Klausner sen. made the second “Full Hill” with his Novarossi powered Mugen MBX-6T in 17.8 seconds! These 2 drivers were the only ones during qualification who made the “Full Hill”! Very surprising was Roland Winklhofer who made with his 2WD 1:6 FG Beetle the third place with 60,80 meters after qualifying – the sound of the engine and the flying dirt from his rear tires was absolutely amazing!
During the end of Qualifying it started to rain lightly with very heavy rain during the lunch break. At the start of the 2 final rounds (better one will be counted) the rain nearly stopped. The starting order for the finals was reversed to the result of qualification – so the best will run on the end! So it was no surprise that with the new drivers a new leader was found. At the TOP 10 the main criteria was the “Klausner hole” at the 55 meter mark which was the most difficult part of the track. This was the reason that we got very close results with 55, 10, 55, 20, 55, 40, … meters. 5th placed driver after qualifying and local hero Rene Rinnerthaler was struggling with 2 defective servos on his Hong Nor Truggy – so he got the chance to change the servos and rerun his final heat later! Roland Winklhofer (3rd after qualifying) had no chance at the wet and less grip condition with his 2WD FG Beetle – he made only 48,60 meters! Second qualifier Michael Klausner sen. made total 3 “Full Hill” the best in 13.9 seconds in his final rounds! Christian Brachmaier (Top-Qualifyer) made 2 “Full Hill” best in 17.2 seconds and Rene Rinnerthaler managed also a “Full Hill in his rerun in 14.2 seconds and so we got following result:
