Round 1 of the Texas State RC Pro Series was held at Mike’s Hobbies and Gulf Coast Raceway in Houston, TX. You will probably hear more about this facility as it is truly first class and also is host to the 1:10 Sedan World Championships in July.
The track at Mike’s is a hard packed clay surface, which produces a fast paced, medium to high bite race surface. In qualifying I TQ’ed all but 1 round for both truck and buggy and in the mains it was no different as I got out early to comfortable leads in which I maintained to take the win for both classes.
For buggy I choose to run M3 Revolvers with the new Evo foam to give the tire more stability especially for the longer run time in the main.
In truck I ran a combo of M3 Calibers with closed cell foam on the front and M2 Calibers with stock foam on the rear. This helped to free up the rear-end a little to help give the truck more steering for the tighter racing surface.
